Covered in goo and nearly dead, Daphne is rescued by a big brown bear named Alex, from the bottom of the Klamath River. And so begins a beautiful interspecies relationship [encountering danger at every turn]. The Misadventures of a Canada Goose is transformed before your very eyes. Set in a magical forest where humans and all creatures are able to converse and interact depicts where land and aquatic creatures dwell. On land we find a five year old boy, Terry, who is unable to hear or speak at all, coming with his parents to Klamath Falls for holiday when he meets an accident, bringing together the inhabitants for one cause, save Terry...
Oliver, the owl, enchants the forest with his magical powers bestowed upon him centuries ago from the ancient forests of England. With a broad sweep of his wing, Oliver creates a world where all creatures talk to each other. In the process of finding and saving the young boy, land-lovers meet with aquatic creatures joining forces in the cause. After a fruitless search for Terry on land, the team of Benny the Beaver, Alex the Brown Bear, and Daphne the Canada Goose, turn to underwater searching introducing the arch villain, Quillpin the Sculpin, feared by both aquatic and land creatures, and meeting more new friends in the sea.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Born in the Southside of Chicago in 1950, T.R. Winn transitioned from the ghetto to the diverse communities of the San Francisco Bay Area with his parents in the early 1960s. Growing up in an affluent environment and experiencing San Francisco's famed "Hippie Movement" from 1964-1969 as a teenager, he was influenced by poets Lewis McAdams, E.E. Cummings, and William Burroughs. Adopting the prevailing philosophy of love not hate opened the doors for the local music scene such as the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane, who were at their pique, to influence the youth of America. T.R. Winn, deeply enthralled in this movement, openly embraced the British invasion bands The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, to name a few, envisioned himself in the mix.
T.R. Winn attended U.C.-Berkeley and Santa Cruz but decided on pursuing his musical career that led to the formation of the famous Jim Carroll Band (Rolling Stones Records, ATCO, and Rhino Records) in the late seventies and early eighties. After traveling to more than 20 countries and three continents, Winn returned to school earning a BPA from the University of San Francisco and M.A. Ed from The George Washington University, in D.C., teaching English to at-risk students in the primary and secondary level. He is a published songwriter, poet, and prose author, "Daphne" being his flagship of recent work.
Winn lives with his wife and two cats in Northern Virginia and is working on the second book of Daphne's misadventures, a script for a TV series from the Daphne manuscript, and writing his autobiography titled, "One Hit Wonder".
