Does Good or Evil Matter When a Family is Cursed?

The dividing line between good and evil is never as clear as people would hope. R.J. King’s novel, Deliverance Comes, reveals this through the story of Nathaniel Ross and the tragic ends that befall his family.

Set in North Carolina, the novel follows Nathaniel from the time he is a young boy stuck in a home with an abusive father to when he is an adult who has strayed from his morals. The readers will learn to sympathize with the young boy and his troubling home as it becomes more and more abusive. As an adult, Nathaniel appears to have made a better life for himself with a wife and job, but looks can be deceiving. Nathaniel feels trapped, yet again, inside his marriage with a wife he does not love and is considering a horrible act to rid her from his life. Though there are several horrendous acts of violence committed, there is never a clear and shallow line between those who are good and those who are evil. Some families are seemingly cursed, and the Ross family appears to be one of those.

R.J. King was born and raised in North Carolina where this novel takes place. He no longer lives in the state, but majored in English at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. King loves writing and telling stories, and one of his central goals is to one day have a successful career doing so.
