ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Dr. Marc Bonis is an associate professor of exercise science and has been at the University of New Orleans (UNO) since 2000. In 2006 he was a recipient of the School of Education’s Vane Wilson faculty award and was recognized in 2014 as a distinguished UNO alumnus. He was formerly UNO’s program director for the Greater New Orleans Senior Olympics. Bonis is a published researcher, a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, and possesses certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He was previously an adjunct assistant professor at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center - School of Public Health, a board member for the Slidell Memorial Hospital and Slidell Hospice Foundation, and a board commissioner for Hospital District No. 2 in St Tammany Parish, Louisiana. 

Katie Tillery is an exercise physiologist in the greater New Orleans area. She has a Master of Science in Kinesiology, is a certified personal trainer from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and has additional certifications in Group Exercise, TRX, Group TRX, Mat Pilates, Yoga, and is an American Red Cross CPR/AED Certification instructor. She is an adjunct faculty member at the University of New Orleans in the Human Performance & Health Promotion Program and the owner of @KatieTilleryFit. She was previously the wellness director for the New Orleans Jewish Community Center from 2007-2020 and trained numerous personal trainers at various fitness centers. She also developed, managed, and conducted small group MindBody Programs.
