"Divinely Silly Coloring Book" Consistent With Current Trend

Posted on August 18, 2015 by April Elkins | 0 Comments

If you believe coloring books are only for children, then you are quite mistaken. In fact, 2015 has been declared by many as the year of the adult coloring book. The trend gained momentum after British artist Johanna Basford published her coloring book “Secret Garden” in 2013. In recent months, her books along with many others have shot to the top of best-seller lists.

Why has this trend grown so much lately? Many cite coloring as an amazing stress reliever. Looking back at history, psychiatrist Carl Jung was noted to prescribe coloring to his patients to calm and center their minds. As a creative activity that requires focus, it’s easy to see how coloring can ease the mind. Similar to crossword puzzles, coloring is an activity that allows us to forget outside stressors in a moment of peace.

More than just therapy, coloring has recently turned into a social activity. Businesses such as ‘Painting with a Twist’ and ‘Pinot’s Palette’ have skyrocketed in recent years creating an environment for social coloring (or painting). Even bookstores such as Barnes & Noble have put together events for adults to meet up and color together. Since when do kids get to have all the fun?

Adding to the trend, Virtualbookworm has recently published the "Divinely Silly Coloring Book: For People of All Shapes and Sizes" by Radisha. The 126-page coloring book is uniquely designed for adults (although kids will love it as well). To experience what this trend is all about, you can purchase the book for $12.95 for our website. Remember, coloring books aren’t just for kids; they’re for the inner kid in all of us.

Happy 2015 and website changes

Posted on January 12, 2015 by Bobby Bernshausen | 0 Comments

Happy New Year! Sorry it's taken a while to post this, but it has taken almost two weeks to catch up on everything!

As you've noticed, we now have a new logo and an entirely new website! We incorporated our bookstore into the full website and integrated more tightly with Facebook and Twitter. If you visit our Facebook page (facebook.com/virtualbookworm) you'll also notice that you can now buy books directly from there by simply clicking the "bookstore" link in the upper navigation bar.

Authors, please check any links you may have used for your books. We tried to forward everything, but if your link wasn't directly to your book, it might not be working correctly. While we worked to announce this as much in advance as possible, some authors did miss it. So to keep up with the latest news, please keep checking our blog, our Facebook page ... and our Twitter feed (twitter.com/vbworm).
