At age 22 and looking forward to graduation with a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering, he was diagnosed with a highly malignant and very large brain tumor, which required life threatening surgery and treatment to survive for even a year. Built upon a firm foundation of faith, hope and love, he never lost his determination and his courage to live life to the fullest! His story of will amaze and inspire you from its beginning to the end!
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I was born in Waco, TX on January 1, 1936. I was married to Frank Blair Warren in 1955. I have three children by my first marriage, Sally, West and John Warren. John was the youngest of the three. Since 1978, I have been married to Robert “Bob” Elliot White, MD, a psychiatrist. Our blended family includes my three children and his three children, Rene, Scott, and Kim. All of our children are grown and we are a very close and “well blended” family. We have 8 grandchildren. After my three children were in grade school or above, I went back to school in San Antonio, receiving a BA degree in 1970 from the University of Incarnate Word, and an MS in Urban Studies from Trinity University in San Antonio in 1972. I worked in the Planning Department of the City of San Antonio from 1972 until 1978, when I married Bob. Then I moved to the Houston area, where I worked as the City Planner for the City of Bellaire for 10 years. In 1988, I decided to leave Bellaire to pursue a Ph.D. at Rice University in political science with a focus on state and local government. I received my Ph.D. from Rice in 1994. After leaving my staff position in Bellaire, I continued as a planning consultant in Bellaire and other small towns and major cities in the region. During my career, I have been active in the American Planning Association, holding leadership positions at the national, state and local levels, including a term as the Texas State Chapter President. I am a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and was inducted into their College of Fellows in 2000. I am now retired, and spending my time with family, especially John’s wife and two daughters who live in Sugar Land near Bob and me.
