In this, his fifth book of poems, Charles Bachman rides the dark wind horse through dreams and nightmares, into tomb-like enclosures peopled with such bizarrely frightening figures as a mummy’s ghost, “owlosaur,” spider predator, giant, and police-state assassin.
In poems of terse power, he finds himself lost in a strange, sometimes claustrophobically-threatening places including bizarre hotels and eating establishments, as he transforms into a singer on the verge of death, a dog, a strange photographer, a seeker ager a magic substance, a many-masked face, and a man-god. Advice to the reader: Prepare for a fascinating adventure through some well-crafted, often strange, powerfully evocative poems.
