Author: Miguel Ruiz Limardo

ISBN 978-1-62137-478-7 (softcover)
ISBN 978-1-62137-494-7 (eBook)

168 pages

This is the author's true story of a cycle of tragedy and hope that befalls a young 17-year old-man who suffers a diving accident and drowns. Miraculously, he survives. His life is changed forever and he faces all kind of vicissitudes as a quadriplegic. Miguel's life is a triumphal story of rehabilitation, but not before he has to suffer the trials associated with his disability all over again at the age of 52 due to complications of a second neck surgery. "Lightning Strikes Twice" is about finding a reason to live and fight again after losing everything. In Miguel's case, this includes his health, job, house and wife. Since he has no one to care for him, he eventually ends up in a nursing home. During this time, recalling scriptures taught to him by his godly mother, he finds strength to carry on when there is seemingly no hope. With a Master's in Psychology and too young to be in a nursing home, he fights the system and becomes an advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Mostly I would like to commend the author for his strong spirit and perseverance.
I was looking forward to read this book because I learned to care about the author through my daughter's father.
However and regretfully, I have to clarify somehow a very minimal but for me very important detail included in this book.
Even though at my age (almost 63) I've learned to watch, think and keep my opinion to myself, something like " live and let live", there is one thing that "triggers" my voice. My daughters.
This book has a picture of my daughters with their father, Eric, which I value. They are part of the author's journey and are mentioned in the book: "Eric was already living in Miami with his wife and two kids", page59.
However, there is also a picture of Eric and his wife of not more than 2 or 3 years; and as this is a book that is sold in the web to whoever is interested in this topic (and that I hope many people buy because I consider it interesting in many ways), I have to clear out, that Eric's daughters are not related to the lady in said picture.
The author has my sincere wishes of health, success and happiness.
I was there then and I am still here.
Relationships can change, but memories and feelings stay.
