Briscoe County Sheriff Rush Scanlon has kept peace in his community for 12 years. In fact, the most serious crimes in the county of 28,000 residents are barroom brawls, an occasional burglary or domestic violence.

But Scanlon faces the challenge of his career when the quiet area is disrupted by the brutal murder of his foster parents. He swears to find the killers ... but soon finds his emotions guiding his investigation. But that doesn't stop him from following the blood tracks.
