At long last, Ludi and Pedro Perez can afford a suburban residence for raising their precious baby daughter, far from the troubled inner city of their own upbringing. But a car crash threatens that dream, prompting Pedro to consult the local herbalist about a peculiar pendant that fell at his feet during a thunderstorm. When she claims to channel spirits from on board a spacecraft heeding an extraterrestrial distress call, he has to wonder: Is she putting on an act to distract him from mounting worries? Or is his family soon to find themselves swept up in out-of-this-world adventure?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

The author is pleased with the kind words he received for the first edition:

To say this is totally unlike anything I've ever read before would be an understatement...aliens, religion, spirituality, humanity...looking forward to the rest of the series!
-Sherri Warner, Indie Book Reviewers

In this dangerous time when people are strengthening borders and compassion is at an all-time low, David Taylor's book contains an enlightened message.
-Steve Hackett, musician and composer, lead guitarist for Genesis

Book Two: The Rejected Counsel of Oomb
Book Three: Centers of the Universe (first editions both available from Virtualbookworm)

pushes the boundaries of typical Sci/Fi literature

Well this novel, “Sessions with the Seer” took me a while to read, but in the end I’d say it was definitely worth it! I like how everything came together, and I enjoyed reading this unusual book! I feel like the overall story was great, but I did feel like perhaps some parts weren’t very necessary and it made it longer than it needed to be. And there were so many characters, it was hard to keep track of them all… some stood out more than others, but I felt a lack of focus at times that made me want to skip to the ‘good stuff’. Anyways, the themes and events that happen are relatable to modern day, yet with a new spin. The author writes VERY well… very descriptive and strong and we feel like we are there almost like watching a movie or something. Overall an interesting, if not surreal novel that pushes the boundaries of typical Sci/Fi literature. Can see fantasy/sci fans really liking it, even those who maybe it’s not their thing, there is a great storyline that will take you to another world for a while….

I commend the author David Taylor

Wow, what a crazy book! I’m not one for rehashing the plot (that’s what the summary is for on the book description page), but trust me when I say you’ve never read anything like this before! It’s quite long, and not a ‘quick and easy read’ by any stretch. But if you like science-fiction, action, dystopian, and/or spiritual fiction, you’ll enjoy this one…it will take you through new concepts and perspectives that you’ve never thought of before. Very cool! his was a very original take on ‘fiction’ for me, and at times it seemed like I was reading a recounting of something “real” that had happened, even though that is obviously not the case. I know that all fiction novels are like that (realistic-feeling stories that are made up), but this one was exceptionally so….perhaps because the dialogue was so authentic and the character development genuine. Even the ET’s seem believable. It starts off with some considerable backstory to set up the scene and ground the reader in the world-building, but I commend the author David Taylor in spinning these complex and intelligent plotlines all together in a way that not only made sense, but was an enjoyable journey – one I’m ready to continue with the next book in the series when it’s released. Well done.

a unique book that will stay with me for some time

To say this is totally unlike anything I’ve ever read before would be an understatement! I’m not sure how to even describe this book as SO much happens, and it seems to touch on so many elements, themes, and subjects. It is presented almost like a nonfiction story, yet it is clearly fantastical and creative, yet very intelligently so. I think that you need to take your time while reading it to really grasp everything the author is saying, as it will require some deeper thought and reasoning. Very interesting! I admit it took me some time to get into this book, and at first I wasn’t really sure where it was going. But the more I read the more I got into it, and thoroughly enjoyed this new world and reality the author writes of. It has a mix of almost everything… aliens, religion, spirituality, humanity… a unique book that will stay with me for some time. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

New Niche of ‘Philosophical-Fantasy’

Review reprinted with permission: Jenna Brewster
Wow, “Sessions with the Seer (A Tale of Four Planets book 1) ” By David Taylor was awesome! I haven’t read anything like that in a long time, if ever. This was the first book I’ve read by this author but I certainly hope it’s not the last. He has a gift for writing descriptive and life-like scenes that make us feel like we are really there inside the story, as opposed to it all just being “told” to us, as so many rookie authors make the mistake of doing. I like that this book didn’t feel stale or derivative of other Science fiction books out there, but instead like a new niche of ‘philosophical-fantasy’ that serves well to help diversify a somewhat cookie-cutter genre (in my opinion). I did notice some editing mistakes that could be handled with a good proofreader, but overall the entire novel was one that I thought was well-crafted and delivered an emotional win. This is the first book in the series and I’m ready to read the next when it’s available!
